Note that the 2 Nights Short Break is available for Standard rooms only. In the heart of the Peneda/Gerês National Park, this Pousada has a breathking view over the river Cávado and the peaceful Caniçada dam. The Pousada has been created from an old hunting lodge and the interiors are warm and inviting, with a big stone fireplace, wood beams and comfortable furniture. The twenty nine guestrooms are all ensuite and are decorated in a rustic, comfortable style: ten of the guestrooms have private balconies. There is a delightful terrace overlooking the lagoon, a perfect spot for a relaxing coffee or late afternoon aperitif. The restaurant serves regional food (a typical menu might include shredded green cabbage soup, fried trout, roast veal). There is an outdoor swimming pool and tennis court at the Pousada. The old town of Braga is about 30 km. to the south and is well worth a visit to its eleventh century cathedral.
Family Information
Most Pousadas can put one extra bed in a room but they can't usually put two. Free cot for children 0 - 2. Children 3-12 years old pay 15% of room rate.
Notes Visit the Miserela Roman bridge, the S. Bento da Porta Aberta Sanctuary, Cabreira mountin range, Vilarinho das Furnas, Ermal dam. Water sports in the lagoon, cruises, horseriding, walks, guided natural park tours - can be arranged. 3 km. north of Braga visit the 7th century Capela de Sao Frutuoso, one of the oldest churches in the country.
