The Pousadas use a room yield system. This means the rooms rates vary by dates and availability. You can use the online reservation system to determine exact rates. If you send an enquiry, we will always quote the best available rate. The Pousada do Infante at Sagres is on a clifftop at the western point of Portugal (in the Algarve) and is designated a Nature Pousada thanks to its waterfront setting, spectacular Atlantic views and quiet, relaxing atmosphere. It is ideally located for visiting the nearby Fortaleza of Sagres and the historic towns that played such a large part in Portugal’s early sea-going history. The Pousada was built in 1960 and has undergone recent renovations and refurbishments. The superior rooms and suites all have seaviews and some of the double standard rooms have partial seaviews. There is a free tennis court and pleasant seaside swimming pool in the gardens. The double rooms are of medium size with marble bathrooms complete with shower and bath and all have a balcony. The rooms have air conditioning and heating, minibar, phone, cable television, hairdryer and robes. There is one suite at the Pousada and two rooms that are handicapped accessible. There are some excellent opportunities for hiking in the area or, if you are feeling more energetic, there is surfing and windsurfing in the vicinity. If you enjoy golf, there is a good course just ten minutes away by car. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at this Pousada and were impressed with the dining room (offering a good fish and regional menu), bar and particularly friendly yet professional staff. A visit to the Fortaleza is a must, and is just a ten minute walk from the Pousada. On a narrow promontory (called the sacred promontory by the Romans) the fortress played an important role in the story of Portuguese discovery and conquest in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Although there is little left of the original fort (being destroyed successively by pirates, Sir Francis Drake and a devastating earthquake in 1755) the atmosphere is magical and - if you are lucky enough to have a guided tour - the history is fascinating. A visit to the lighthouse of Cape Saint Vincent is well worth a trip. The Pousada is most easily reached by car but public transportation is available from Lisbon, Faro and Portimao. The airport at Faro is about 115 km. away. There are over 200 km. of fine golden sandy beaches along the sunny Algarve.
