In the Azores, located by the sea on the North Coast of the Island of San Miguel, and with an impressive view over the North Atlantic and the Lagoa do Fogo mountain range, is Casa das Calhetas which was was built in 1723. The house has been in the same family since it was built and today Margarida and her Spanish husband Carlos are the owners and hosts. The house is built on three sides of a courtyard and the front of it looks out over the Atlantic and the rocky coast of the Serra da Lagoa do Fogo (Lake of Fire) The view to the southwest offers completely different scenery, the only Azorean cloistered confined convent, and the garden. Thre are just two double rooms and one single room in the Casa, but it is a wonderfully relaxing place to walk and fish (and of course to spend time in the library of the house). Good seafood restaurants 2 km. away. A good location from which to explore all the islands but note that it is an isolated area. Part of the Solares of Portugal group.

Family Information

No charge will be made for cots up to 2 years old.Children 2 and under stay free.
