The Porto Pousada (Freixo Palace) is newly opened and is certainly a jewel in the crown for the Pousada hotel organization. The building was designed by the architect Nasoni and built in the mid 18th century and is one of the most remarkable examples of Portuguese civil architecture from the baroque period. It has been designated a National Monument since 1910. The entire façade of the palace buildings has been maintained and luxurious new guestrooms have been created inside. The property consists of two separate but interconnected buildings: the Palácio (or palace), which houses the restaurant, bar, lounges and meeting rooms; and the former Harmonia Flour Factory, where the rooms are to be found, some of them boasting a magnificent view over the river. The setting is delightful, the cuisine exceptional, and the considerable on-site capacity make this the ideal choice not only for those seeking a special place to stay in Porto but also as a venue for weddings and meetings. Wireless internet is available in all public areas and there are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a spa.

Most Pousadas can put one extra bed in a room but they can't usually put two. Free cot for children 0 - 2. Children 3-12 years old pay 15% of room rate.
