As you arrive in Oliveira it will be hard to miss this magnificent twin-towered building sitting on the hillside to one side of the village. This manor from the 18th century, built of granite freestone, heads a vast farming estate of 30 hectares producing Port. The estates vineyards surround the house and as well as port grapes, they grow white and red Sedinhas (named after the current owners grandfather who built the house). Its beautiful landscape, in which the Douro river winds down towards the sea, makes it a relaxing and tranquil place to stay. Wine tasting may be organized. There is a swimming pool and there are bicyles available. Dinners are not served unless ordered in advance but there are restaurants within a short drive. This is part of the Solares de Portugal group.
