Within the centuries-old castle walls that encircle the village of Óbidos, this Pousada was the first one to be adapted and restored from a historical monument, itself a monument of national importance. Óbidos is a known for its typical white houses with blue trim, flowered windows, narrow streets and steps paved with stone. There is much to see in the countryside, including the churches and pillory in the village, the museum, Obidos lagoon, Caldas de Rainha, and Malhoa Museum. The coastal town of Peniche is not far.

“It was a wonderful night at the Obidos Castelo. Our room was beautiful with a nice view of the courtyard.
The bartender was most talkative in explaining about his country and people, and in sharing sights we should not miss. Dinner was delightful-great fish, duck, wine and dessert. The baked quinces at breakfast were wonderful, as were the breads.
We were up to watch the sunrise over the castle walls and it was a beautiful morning.
I truly hope to return to Portugal and Obidos again in my lifetime. It was beautiful and I will recommend your castel to everyone.” Rating: Very Good
