Next to the National Art Museum in the beautiful Rua das Janelas Verdes is a small palace dating from the end of the 18th century which is also called As Janelas Verdes (Green Windows) With its neoclassical decor, there is a gentle, romantic, welcoming atmosphere here - with small objets d art, books, paintings and mementos from the tradition of Eca de Queiros, the famous Portuguese novelist, who is said to have lived here. The rooms are cheeful and sunny, the multi-lingual staff friendly and helpful and the general areas delightful. Have an evening aperitif in the library's large balcony overlooking the Tagus. Breakfast is served in the ivy covered patio garden and you are in the heart of old Lisbon here. There is no restaurant at the hotel but many wonderful places to eat in the area. This small inn is highly recommended by our clients who frequently comment on its warmth, charm and delightful location. It is possible to leave a car in the Parking at Lisboa Plaza hotel (a sister hotel to As Janelas Verdes) and take a brief taxi ride to the hotel.
