50% deposit required upon booking. 7 night min stay over Christmas This delightful small hotel on the island of Madeira is situated on one of the hills surrounding the city of Funchal, close to an area of historical interest (with several museums) and is just 1.5 km from the town centre. It is a luxury hotel with an intimate feel in a historically significant building. The 2.5 hectare gardens are gorgeous with a beautiful swimming pool, and the service is first class. There are sun terraces with sun beds, umbrellas and towels, a well-equipped gym, sauna and Turkish bath, jacuzzi, tennis court, croquet and table tennis - all for guest use and included in the price of your room. There are a total of forty lovely rooms at the hotel, all of them of the highest standard in traditional style. They have large balconies facing the beautiful gardens, sitting area, air conditioning and heating, cable TV, direct dial telephone, safe deposit box, mini bar, private marble bathroom with double basin, hairdryer, bath/shower, bathrobes, separate w.c. and hairdryer. Thirteen of the rooms are standard double with views over the gardens. Eighteen of the rooms are superior rooms with views of the garden and some of the sea. The four junior suites have sitting area and private balconies and these are in the elegant manor house. The five premier suites are larger, with large balconies and separate bedroom and living room. An elegant evening restaurant with al fresco seating offers excellent Madeiran and International cuisine. This restaurant does not allow children under eight years of age. There is also a relaxing bar for the sunset cocktails and nightcaps

The Island of Madeira (35 miles (57km) long by 14 miles (22km) wide) is located southwest of Portugal at a point 400 miles (680km) west of Morocco in the North Atlantic. Steeply rising up to 6000 feet (1800m) out of the sea, this lush volcanic subtropical outcrop, is the largest of a four island archipelago comprising Madeira, Porto Santo and the uninhabited Desertas and Selvagens. There are regular flights from London by British Airways and Tap (taking about 3.30 hrs.), Brussels (3.30 hrs.,) and Lisbon (2.30 hrs.). Cancellation Policy:
If the reservation is cancelled 7 days or more prior to arrival, there is no hotel penalty. If cancelled 7 days or less prior to arrival 40% will be charged by the hotel. In case of no show or cancellation on the day of arrival, the 50% deposit is not refunded. A 15 euro administrative cancellation fee is charged by Inns of Portugal on all confirmed reservations that are subsequently cancelled.
