This hotel does not accept credit cards as final payment. You must pay in cash. In the historic setting of Freixinho, the Convento was built in 1663 by Joao de Gouveia Couto. Various parts of the building, including the Reception area, are original granite outcrops that were there even before the Convento was built. The Calustro is of particular beauty, with long corridors from which the rooms branch off. A sensitive and careful restoration and alteration has transformed the original into a small hotel with a wonderfully peaceful feeling, with 24 delightful, simple double rooms complete with bathroom, a tower with reading room and lounges with great views from the many windows, a restaurant in what was once the chapel, and a very pretty garden. The restaurant serves typical Portuguese cuisine with emphasis on regional specialties (price approx. 25 euros per person). Note that you must pay your final bill in cash as the hotel does not take credit cards.
