The Pousadas use a room yield system. This means the rooms rates vary by dates and availability. You can use the online reservation system to determine exact rates. If you send an enquiry, we will always quote the best available rate. In the former 13th century Franciscan Convent located in the heart of the historical centre of the Alentejo town of Beja, is this impressive Pousada. Combining the original beautiful stonework with today's modern comforts, it is a fascinating place to stay. The first records of this Convent date from 1268. There are thirty four rooms and one suite all with cable television, minibar, hairdryer in the full bathroom, phone, internet and safe. On the property are a pleasant outdoor swimming pool and tennis court, as well as family games area. The restaurant serves a regional cuisine, including such dishes as mint soup, codfish with cream "au gratin", lamb stew, local egg cake. Although the town of Beja does not offer much appeal, there are interesting walks in the vicinity and there is excellent birdwatching from this location. The 2009 Birdwatching Program uses this Pousada as an important stopping point. For more information on this ten day birdwatching program, please ask us (we have a list of species and an itinerary for groups). The Pousada is located about 140 km from Faro airport.
