Casa AntigaThe house is situated in a peaceful valley, about 500 metres from the road, between Fermil de Basto and Arco de Baúlhe. It looks out on the mountains of the Serra do Marão which rise up on the other side of the Tâmega river to the high peak of Senhora da Graça. The beautifully decorated rooms in this Casa, and the well-groomed gardens make this an exceptionally relaxing and pleasurable place to relax. There is a courtyard complete with pond, a swimming pool, and lots of spaces for guests to relax--a library, piano room, games room and even a chapel. The guestrooms are decorated in a country style often only seen in magazines. The country manor house was built in the 17th century which was, and still is, the focus of an agricultural and forestry operation in its 90 acres. Located in the Basto region, it is an area that is famous for its excellent wines and beautiful countryside. Great hospitality in a beautiful house. Pousadas Update We are delighted to announce three new spectacular Pousadas opening in the spring and summer of 2009. These three Historic Pousadas are in Porto, Viseu and Estoi (close to Faro). We have recently visited the Pousada Palacio de Estoi, due to be completed in early May, and it is an outstanding property located in the former palace that was once the home of the Viscount of Estoi. A restoration of the original palace and grounds has been completed and will be complemented by new, modern and spacious rooms and suites. The gardens and swimming pool will make this an exceptionally relaxing and interesting place to stay.
